INTRODUCTORY COURSE
INTRODUCTORY COURSE
Bismillāh. Every archer’s journey begins with a single, deliberate draw.
The Iḥyā ar-Rimāyah 5-Week Introductory Course is the starting point for those new to traditional archery. Over five Saturdays, you will be introduced to the foundations of the art, drawing from the rich traditions and teachings of Arab, Mamlūk and Ottoman archery.
You will learn the safe and proper handling of archery equipment, the fundamental principles that will enable you to cast your first arrow, and the etiquette of the Maydān (archery field). Each week builds upon the last, giving you a strong foundation from which to continue your development as an archer.
More than a lesson in technique, the course is an invitation to revive this noble practice. Training is approached with sincere intention, discipline and companionship, so that what is cultivated through the bow and arrow may benefit the body, sharpen the mind and strengthen the character.
Classes are held separately for men and women and are open to adults and youth aged 15 and older.
Upon successfully completing the five-week course, you will have the opportunity to continue your journey as a member of Iḥyā ar-Rimāyah, inshā’Allāh.
