At Iḥyā, yaqaẓah refers to a stage where the archer realizes what Archery in Islām is, and now becomes aware of its teachings and the traditions of our Noble Master and Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
At Iḥyā, the concept of Musāfir represents a stage where the archer faces not only physical but also mental and spiritual challenges associated with establishing archery as part of one’s lifestyle, with every arrow representing a step closer to Allāh Ta'ala. The archer's focus is not only on mastering the physical art but also on living a life that aligns with a Higher purpose. Here, consistency in maintaining a connection with Allāh Ta'ala is paramount, as the archer progresses in acquiring equipment and a private environment, which forms an integral part of the archer’s spiritual path.
At Iḥyā, the concept of Tawbah represents a stage where the archer accurately acknowledges both their physical and spiritual shortcomings on the path of archery. The archer makes a firm commitment (to himself and his Creator) to overcome these flaws, both in technique and spirit. By maintaining a pure heart, the archer is equipped to progress on their journey toward mastery, keeping imperturbability as their guiding focus.
At Iḥyā, Shukr is the stage where the archer nurtures gratitude, not only for the successes they achieve but also for the challenges they face along the way. Just as an archer learns from every shot, whether it hits the target or not, Shukr encompasses gratitude in both triumph and trial. In line with the Prophetic traditions, the archer may be inspired to teach others, knowing that imparting knowledge is a great favour from Allāh, bringing Ṣadaqah Jāriyah and rewards both in this life and the hereafter. Through teaching, the archer strengthens their connection with Allah as well, recognizing that each moment spent in archery—whether in pursuit of mastery or guiding others—becomes an opportunity to serve His Divine plan and seek Allāh Ta’ala’s pleasure.
At Iḥyā, Muḥabbah is the stage where the archer’s love for Allāh is intertwined with a deep respect for the favour of Archery in Islām. Archery is seen not just as a skill but as a transformative path that shapes the individual’s character, discipline, and devotion. The archer’s journey toward mastery is such that it encourages others to pursue the same path. Similar to the effects of a waterfall, when in its proximity, one surely experiences its droplets. They seek excellence, knowing that true mastery reflects their trust in Allāh and embodies the Prophetic teachings. Secondly, by nurturing students and passing on this revered tradition, they serve the community. The archer also embraces continual growth, seeking knowledge from various sources in the world to strengthen the institution. In this way, every moment spent in archery—whether refining their skill or guiding others—becomes an act of devotion and a means to seek Allāh’s pleasure.
